Next time you see a bird, appreciate their watch over to you. Associated with the gods & woven deep into ancestral roots with stories to tell. This is a lazy morning recording, watching my friends watch me from my window. Recorded in the tide of Winters Samhuinn, Southern Hemisphere early May From Chapter 'Cat' The resident birds;
Lark/skylark A bird of the summer solstice, when the sun is at its highest this cheeky bird flies up to sing to him. Wren A bird of cunning & the king of all birds... "He who shall hurt the little wren Shall never be belov'd by men." by William Blake (Auguries of Innocence) A bird sacred to the god Taranis who liked to inhabit the oak tree & has lightning as his weapon. The wren was also called 'Drui-en or Druid bird' in Irish Gaelic. In Welsh the word Dryw means both druid and wren. Sparrow Associated with the god Ilmater, for those who suffer, are oppressed, and persecuted, He encourages one to endure & others to help them. Ilmater would take their burdens or take their places (I wonder who stole this pagan tale??) A deity of the faerûnian pantheon who shared rank with the Norse god 'Tyr' (the maimed god - thanks to the shyster loki's tricks) Tyr is one of my pantheons & a god of justice, (Ilmaters superior prior to the Spellplague) & along with Torm the True (god of loyalty and duty) these 3 deities formed the Triad, An alliance of lawful good deities that were stronger as a united force than individually. It is said that the god, Ilmater would travel with Tyr, to assist & teach Tyr to live without his sight and to rely upon his 'gut/intuition' instead. Blackbird The Celtic queen of magick, is often attended by 3 blackbirds (song birds) who revive the dead and lull the weary heroes with song, to sleep. Also considered as the doorkeepers to the underworld, refer to the 'song of Branwen' Pigeon The roman mother goddess Demeter (Ceres) a goddess of agriculture, grain crops, fertility and motherly relationships. Originally the central deity in Rome paired with her daughter Proserpina. Refer to the Greek rites of Ceres (meaning "to satiate, to feed) and noIi refuse to accept Christian associations with the dove or pigeon. I'm a child of Europe. None of the Abrahamic middle east religions of origin have a place in the west. Raven/crow The Irish goddess the Morrigan 'Tuatha de Danann (the first people of Ireland, also considered to be gods) a goddess of war, protection, hunting, and abundance. The ale father odins pair 'thought & memory that return to him every night relaying what they have seen & heard Magpie In old Norse mythology, the priestess of the magpie clan 'Skadi' (the daughter of a giant) represented sexual union and the balanced energies of feminine and masculine. In England, if a magpie flies by, it is recommended to take off your hat and to bow repeating this line 'Morning/Afternoon Mr Magpie. How's Mrs Magpie and all the little Magpies?' This will help assure your good luck throughout the day ;) By Druid & Witch of the old ways, And Priestess of the Morrigan, Ravenmor Fox Thank-you, don’t forget to save and share.
